A 75-year-old woman was struck by a car just outside of a Texas bingo hall in Texas on Wednesday evening.
The identity of the woman has not been released to the public but police believe that she was local and was walking either to or from the bingo hall.
Officer Kirk Stowers said a male, 51 years old, was driving the 2003 Ford Taurus that killed the woman and left him unhurt.
“Since she did not use a crosswalk, of course the motorist did not expect a pedestrian to be in the street there," Stowers said. "Our message to the public is to be mindful that people, animals or any kind of an obstacle can go in the roadway where you least expect it."
"We want everyone to get to their destination safely," Stowers said. "This is a tragedy that we hate to work. Our thoughts are with everyone that's affected by this crash."
Nearly sixty people were on the scene as police directed traffic away from the body. Two relatives of the deceased were also there talking to law enforcement officers.
Again, the identity of the woman is unknown. This is an unfortunate tragedy and out condolences go out to her family.
