According to the Mirror, Helen Heaphy, 50, was brought before Cork District Court, who heard the case of her possession of cocaine and possession of the drug for sale.

Heaphy was outside of Rockbingo when police walked up and searched her finding €350 worth of cocaine on her.

“What was she doing with cocaine at a bingo hall?” asked Judge Leo Malone.

Her solicitor, Frank Buttimer, defending, said there was no doubt she was inside the Rockbingo with the cocaine in her possession.

“The event happened outside the bingo hall. At the request of someone, she carried it to give to her. It was a stupid act which placed her at risk of imprisonment. She is 50 years old, she is separated and is a mother and grandmother with responsibilities in relation to her family. She co-operated fully with the Garda enquiry during a lengthy interview and indicated at the earliest stage her intention to plead guilty”, he said.

The judge gave Heaphy a fine of €750 and has permission to return to the bingo hall.
