William Hill Sponsors Grand Slam Darts 2011

William Hill has been all over the news over the past couple of weeks for all the wrong reasons. However, their latest announcement can only be good news as they confirm that a sponsorship deal for the Grand Slam of Darts later in November.


The event is set to take place in Wolverhampton City hall from the 12th to 20th November 2011. Players will include current world champion Adrian Lewis, current Grand Slam champion Scott Waites and the one and only Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor. These three will join 29 other players who will be whittled down to 16 finalists with the victor being crowned on the 20th November.

"We'd like to welcome William Hill as the new title sponsors of the 2011 Grand Slam of Darts and look forward to working with such a well-known and respected brand," commented Barry Hearn.

He added, "This tournament brings together the greatest players in darts, who have qualified by virtue of their achievements in major tournaments over a two-year period, and in William Hill we have a sponsor whose stature reflects that."

You can expect to see William Hill advertising hoardings at the event, along with various players sponsored by the gambling brand. They will be hoping that the prestigious event can gloss over other negative events from the past couple of weeks.

These recent events include a mass walkout of staff in Israel, where the company is largely based. They have also recently had one of their bingo adverts banned by the ASA after a single complaint.
