Now that the US DOJ has determined that the Wire Act of 1961 only pertains to sports betting, it opens the door and leads the way for Americans to gamble online. How long it will take for the US to put all their ducks in a row and legalize online gambling is still on speculation.
The doors have cracked open a wee bit with Nevada being the first state to allow online poker. At the moment it is a state by state determination that limits US players to play against other players within their own state. But many online gambling analysts theorize it is just the beginning and Americans will be playing on an international level.
This is good news for bingo community which could potentially allow UK bingo players and US bingo players to mingle in the same online bingo rooms. It’s out with the old, in with the new and back to the old for 2012 hopefuls. Prior to the UIGEA act of 2006 banning all US internet gambling UK and US players were merrily playing together in bingo rooms.
Perhaps old acquaintances will not be forgotten and bingo players will once again be reunited with their bingo roomies from so long ago. It is a short trip across the pond via internet but has been a long journey to get back to where it all started.
