Three William Hill Car Winners Can't Drive

You may recall the William Hill Bingo promotion running this month where they are giving away £180,000 worth of brand new cars. It’s a great promotion which has recently grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons, namely three out of the four first winners could’t actually drive.

The first win went off without a hitch, with the brand new Fiat Punto being handed over by snooker legend John Parrot. Understandably she was thrilled with her prize, what happened with the next three winners dumbfounded the event organizers who considered halting the entire competition after the problems.

Meetings at the highest level

Tony Kennedy, a spokesperson for William Hill admitted that there were ‘meetings at the highest level’ to determine how to tackle the problem. He explained,"It caused absolute chaos, with changes having to be made to the drive away insurance policies, substituting the winners' names with those of their partners."

Mary McGuigan was the first lucky winner to cause the virtual traffic jam. She admitted that she could not drive and has never possessed a driving license. William Hill still honored the prize though.

The second winner also admitted she didn’t hold a license but has big plans to get behind the wheel of her new car. Elizabeth Shearer said,As soon as I won, I sent off for my provisional licence and I am keen to get some lessons and pass my test."

The fourth player, Lauara Campbell, also could’t drive which sent the promotions team to the brink. Mr Kennedy explained, "When Laura said she'd failed her test three times, we were pulling our hair out.”

Thankfully the next set of winners could drive, the games remained on the schedule and William Hill has announced twenty more cars will be given away as part of their Halloween promotions later this month.
