If you have recently starting playing online bingo, then you are far from being the only one to have found a new form of entertainment without leaving the house.

Bingo Players Flocking to Online Sites

New research carried out by the Gambling Commission has revealed that there is a big shift in how we wager underway. Use of online bingo games and other types of internet wagers – such as slots and card games - increased by a very healthy percentage last year. From 3% of the UK population last year, the number of people who use these fun sites has increased to 5%.

Almost 15% of the UK adults asked said that they had wagered online in the last 12 months. When we look at how many of those questioned play bingo online it is clear that there is a bit of a gender gap. 12% of the ladies were found to play internet bingo games compared to a more modest 6% of the chaps. The same sort of female bias is found on scratch card games, while men prefer most of the other online games.

One possible explanation for the fact that woman love online bingo so much is the group of friends that they can build up from among the other users. The chat rooms are seen as a vital element of the whole experience for many users, and it seems that female players are more interested in this aspect of online bingo playing than their male counterparts.

It will be interesting to see how the results come out for this year, with the problems being experienced by local bingo halls possibly leading to even more people heading online for their bingo fun.
