Mecca Vs Gala Bingo Football Match

Written by: Nikola Zugic on 18/08/2010 16:40

The world cup may be over but the guys at mecca and gala bingo have decided to kick off the new football season with a charity bingo match against each other – it’s a clash of the bingo titans in a friendly match to raise money for charity.

Although these two bingo brands are usually rivals they will join forces on Monday 30th August to make sure they raise as much as humanly possible for charity. The football match is due to kick off at 1pm along side a host of other events suitable for the whole family.

Their will also be a fete that will include raffles, book stalls and various other entertaining activities at the Stonehouse recreation ground in Plymouth. The two brands are hopeful bingo players and locals alike will attend the event.

Every penny raised will be split evenly between the two adopted charities. Gala will give their half to Sue Ryder care while Mecca will donate their half to Marie Cure Cancer care. Both of the bingo giants have been supporting their respective charities for a long time but this is the first time they have joined forces to raise money for charity.

Head organiser and manager of the Gala Bingo hall at Derry Cross, David Gregory-Clements, said: “It’s really gaining some momentum now and we’re all looking forward to the day. This five-a-side tournament not only allows us to generate a bit of friendly rivalry between the local bingo clubs but also to do something really positive for both of our charities. We are all hoping the day will be well supported. May the best team win!”

In reply Mecca Devonport General Manager, Nigel Green, commented: “The team has been training hard and we are all really pleased to be taking on a rival local bingo club to raise money for both charities! It should certainly be a lot of fun on the day and we hope our customers and team members will come along to show their support and help us raise a lot of money.”

Whoever wins we think this is a great reason to use the rivalry between two major bingo providers for the greater good, well done guys and may the best team win.
