It has been the first time in years that Mecca Bingo is on a mission to open new Clubs. Rank Group who owns Mecca masterminded the plan in an effort to cut taxes from 20 percent to 15 percent.
This would also create new jobs around the UK resulting in increased opportunities for employment. A document released outlines the proposal with a focus on regulatory reform in the gaming industry.
Rank argues with the Treasury’s claim that cutting duty would reduce tax receipts. Projections from Rank predict the investment and prize increases could only bolster revenue by £35 million in the first four years.
It is an ideal resolution on paper yet there are concerns considering the number of bingo halls that have closed in recent years. The smoking ban and economic climate have been contributing factors and will be interesting to see if new Mecca Bingo Clubs can overcome these pitfalls.
