Mecca Bingo are a lovely bunch, and that goes for all the players and the staff alike, and a story featured in today’s Southend Echo News just pays testament to that fact. Practically the whole community at the Southend Mecca Bingo hall on Greyhound Way have helped to purchase a young lad called Jack Mold an electric wheelchair. The Southend Mecca Bingo hall has been working alongside Whizz-Kidz a mobility charity that helps children in gaining mobility and independence.

The Mecca Bingo hall in Southend did many charitable fund raising events to help purchase the wheelchair for Jack including a charity bingo game with local celebrity bingo caller Adam Barrett (who is the Captain of Southend United) and also a sponsored head shave that saw celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford doing the hair shaving. All the players and team at the Southend Mecca Bingo hall have had lots of fun raising the cash for Jack and are pleased to be able to help a local youngster who needs help.

Jack has autism and muscular dystrophy so the new electric wheelchair supplied by Whizz-Kidz and Mecca Bingo has really made his life so much easier. It means that Jack can now go where he wants to rather than waiting to be pushed about by family or friends and will be invaluable aid for the whole family, who are now looking forward to going out for a much longed for walk in the park together.

The Mecca Bingo Hall is still fund raising for Whizz-Kidz and are asking for people to donate their old mobile phones for recycling to aid the fund raising.
