Scottish bingo play, Joan Caveney hit a major jackpot while playing the Mecca Summer of Fun promotion and the waiting for a verification that she had really won seemed like forever.

Caveney, 57-year-old grandmother of 9, had a regular seat in the Mecca Bingo hall in Saucel Crescent every week since its opening in 2006. Most of her wins were small until recently when she played a game that was part of Mecca Bingo’s summer promotion and won £100,000 at the club. Not only was this a fantastically exciting win for her but the other 340 players in the club split £50,000 which turned out to be £147.06 per player just for being in the club when the jackpot was won.

Caveney always sits at table 536 when she plays bingo at the club a few times a week.

“There was such a party atmosphere when I realised I won, the hall erupted. The best bit was everybody in the club is getting something too. It was great that I managed to do it for me, but amazing that I did it for everyone else too,” she said.
