Maltco Lotteries Limited will soon introduce the National Lottery once again after receiving approval for their 10-year Maltese National Lottery concession. The announcement was made yesterday and the license will become effective as of July 1, 2012.

After a bit of competition between the bidders, Maltco managed to outbid GTech Betco Consortium. Maltco had been running the Maltese lottery since 2001 and with a bid of €39.1 million it will be reintroduced.

In addition to this news, there were additional licenses granted to offer National Lottery Games both exclusively and nonexclusively.

Beginning in July, the legal age to take part in the National Lottery will increase from 16 to 18 to comply with changes to the Lotteries and Other Games Act of 2010.

With the 2nd National Lottery license, there will be new technology which will not only increase the interest in the games but moves along with other advancements in technology. Not only will lottery patrons benefit from such advancement but agents will also see improvements with the use of better equipment.
