A lot of stories lately have focused on the power of bingo and in particular what a fantastic way it has of raising money for worthwhile causes. Last week we discovered that employees from a Manchester based bingo hall had done their part to raise money for Ruby Tanswell, an 18 month year old girl who suffers from a rare form of throat cancer.

This week Joanne Powell, who lives in Garndiffaith in Wales, is arranging a fundraiser in memory of her mother who suffered from the debilitating disease non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The event will celebrate the life of Joanne’s mother and raise money for the fund.

Joanne said "My mother was well-liked and it will be nice to mark what would have been a special time for her".

The fundraiser will take place on 22nd January 2011 at the Garndiffaith Millennium hall and according to the Mirror will include bingo, a raffle and a disco.

Miss Powell is hoping to collect over £4,000 at the event all of which will be donated to the St David’s Foundation who helped take care of her mother.
