Moves by the Gala Coral group to improve its recent rather poor financial results looks like leading to a move for its sports betting arm on the Playtech software, according to some analysts at least.

The Gala Bingo operations and traditional bingo halls are actually still doing ok for the group but the main problem seems to be with their sports betting operation. Playtech runs the highly successful Virtue Fusion bingo platform, which is used on a number of the top wagering sites.

The Way is Now Clear for a Tie In

It had previously been suggested that the joint venture between Playtech and William Hill Bingo was going to be a major stumbling block to the software firm arranging a tie up with another big gambling operator, but the recent resolution of a legal dispute between the two companies has removed this possible problem from the scene.

It is feared that if the Gala Coral Group use the Playtech software it could lead them to cut back on jobs, although hints from the betting firm suggest that they might actually be looking to take on more people.

This obviously isn’t the first big tie in of this sort but it will be interesting to see if it is the solution to the Gala Coral problems, and if so whether other big betting companies decide to go down the same route in the future when faced with an underperforming product. In the meantime we will just need to wait and see how it all develops and hope that the user experience is in no way adversely affected by the anticipated switch to the new platform.
