You may have read our past blog posts about the fantastic charity work Gala bingo have done, if not then we are pleased to announce that they have continued to support their chose charity Sue Ryder Care. There latest efforts took place last weekend when 11 dedicated Gala Coral employees got a little saddle sore on an Olympian bike ride from London to Cambridge.
Gala had set an initial target of £1 million pounds which they met in 2009; they then set another target of raising an extra £500k for Sue Ryder care who provides the highest quality care for people living with cancer, stroke victims, Huntingdon’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
The bike ride cut its way through 60 miles of English country side which skirted around the edge of Hertford. The ride continued throughout Bishop Stortford, then through Cambridgeshire until finally the group arrived at their final stop. The whole trip raised an astonishing £5,000.
The chief executive Sue Ryder Care, Paul Woodward, said: “On behalf of Sue Ryder Care, I can’t thank everybody at Gala Coral enough for their truly fantastic support. The money Gala Coral employees continue to raise enables us not only to maintain provision of care via our health and social services nationwide but to develop and grow so that we can reach out to more people.”
This is but one of the charity events Gala has put on to raise money for their chosen charity, a welcome site, especially just before cancer awareness month due to take place in October. Keep up the good work Gala.
