The chosen charity for Gala Bingo as a group is Sue Ryder Care. Some time ago the Coral Group (owners of Gala), had a work poll where they asked all their employees which would be the charity of their choice, and Sue Ryder was the winner. Since then they have been going all out to provide all kinds of innovative ways of raising money for the charity and all staff players and members alike get involved. Their goal is to raise £1 million and they gave themselves 18 months to do this. The 18 months will soon be up.

You can get involved in the fund raising at the site by joining in the games every Tuesday night at 7:25. A special game sees the 90 ball clubs link up and for every pound you spend 10p goes to the charity. Sue Ryder Care is devoted to helping the sufferers of all kinds of serious illnesses and their families.

All the land based Gala Bingo Clubs are also deeply involved in this cause, and recently the club in Lordshill raised £756 from holding a series of regular prize draws and tombolas. One of their first prize winners landed a two-person holiday to Bruges, which was "fantastic". In another club, the manager of Gala Bingo Blackburn, Mark Simm is busy preparing to take part in “the worlds highest bingo game ever”.

You will never guess where it is going to be held – Mount Everest. All the money they raise from this even will go to Sue Ryder Care and, wow, what an effort to make for fund raising. I suppose if you have always dreamed of climbing this famous mountain and you are an employee of Gala, one way of getting to the top is to raise funds, we should all wish the team the best of luck, climbing Everest is no mean feat!
