The good work carried out by bingo firms and fans has been praised in the House of Lords thanks to the sterling charity efforts of the Gala Coral Bingo Group.

£1.5 million raised for Sue Ryder Care Charity

It is no surprise that this accolade has been given to the bingo firm, as what started out as an attempt to raise a million pounds by the end of 2009 was so successful that the target was raised by half a million pounds and the achievement date pushed on to December 2010. The reaching of this target meant that the House of Lords saw a special reception held to mark the event on Thursday 27th January 2011.

The association between the Gala Coral Bingo Group and the Sue Ryder Care Charity started out in 2008 when the bingo staff voted to raise money for this worthy cause. The charity in question is well known for the fabulous work it does in caring for people with illnesses such as cancer and multiple sclerosis.

Bingo on Mount Everest to Raise Money

Some of the creative ways the bingo group has found to raise money since the link up began, include playing a game of bingo at Mount Everest base camp in the Highest Game of Bingo. The Gala Coral Group head of corporate responsibility, Dr Colin Morgan, quite rightly pointed out that the firm’s money raising efforts were even more stunning when you consider the backdrop of an economic crisis which they managed to overcome.

We mentioned the other day that Costa Bingo are helping out the Help for Heroes charity on their site and it is great to that the good work done by bingo firms and players in not going unnoticed.
