A recent survey conducted by Hitwise, a leader in the online consumer intelligence was commissioned by the Belle Rock group to do a study of online casinos throughout the UK. The target group was female online casino players in the UK and their preferences.

From 2007 to 2010 the number of women playing online casino games in the UK increased four times reaching almost as high as the number of men. The results showed that in 2011 48.38% were women compared to 51.62% males according to Belle Rock Entertainment.

The report suggests that the reason more women are playing is the convenience of online gambling and a safer environment it provides. Playing at home, women are not made to feel uncomfortable or deal with players looking over their shoulders.

Men and women gamblers vary with males preferring poker, roulette and sports betting while females prefer online slots and bingo. Online bingo has fast become popular among women who play twice as much as men.

Online gambling sites have aggressively taken advantage of this trend with female influenced casinos and bingo halls.
