The partnership between Carers Trust charity and The Rank Group Plc, which owns Mecca and Grosvenor Casinos, proves to be a great success. Together they've raised around £500,000.00, which is over and above what was expected. That’s why Charity Champions from Mecca Bingo branches around the country were present at a grandiose event last week, organized to celebrate and recognize their fundraising success. The event was held at The Royal Horseguards Hotel, in the presence of HRH the Princess Royal, Princess Anne.

Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton launched the charity partnership between Mecca Bingo and Carers Trust in February 2014. This was a start of an effort which resulted in a 10,000 strong workforce coming up with outrageous ways to raise as much money as possible. Throughout the year team members at the club have organized a whole range of fundraising events, from 24/7 challenges to the most recent ‘Wear Your Onesie’ to work day.

Carers Trust was founded to help those who spend their time helping others. With over 170 Network Partners, including care schemes and carers centers across the UK, as well as providing online support, Carers Trust is the UK’s largest charity for carers. The aim of the multi-year partnership between Rank Group and Carers Trust is to make the challenge of being a carer a little bit easier by generating funds to give carers access to desperately needed breaks and among other things, providing essential equipment needed at home.

Brian Hennigan, general manager at Mecca Southport, said: “It’s a real honor we are being recognized for the fundraising work we do.

“I can’t say thank you enough to our team members and kind-hearted customers who have helped support with all our fundraising efforts over the last year. There are no words to describe the importance of what these carers do in our community, and it’s an honor to know how much we’ve been able to help make life that little bit easier for them.”

Cherry Tatlow, Rank Charity Partnership Manager hopes that this year “we will be able to raise even more money for this fantastic charity.”
