Care Home Manager Steals from Residents to Fund Bingo Addiction

Written by: Glo Wood on 25/04/2014 17:45

Care home manager, 48-year-old Rachel Stokes, was sentenced to eight months in jail after it was discovered that she had stolen hundreds of pounds to play bingo.

Stokes used cash cards to access the money from care home residents’ bank accounts and admittedly used the money to fund her addiction.

Judge Jamie Tabor said her actions were "a serious breach of trust, particularly because of the vulnerability of the residents".

A family member of one of the residents felt that Stokes’ punishment should have been tougher.

"I am not happy. We definitely needed longer," she said.

"There are just no words to describe what she has done."
