.bingo: The New Domain

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has introduced a new way in which we will see some of our favorite websites. We are familiar with .com, .net, .org or .co.uk but it seems that the new wave of domains will be .bingo.

To launch the new domain, operators will be required to apply for it and ICANN has released a list of names which are under application and the list also shows two companies which have applied for .bingo domain names. Sand Cedar, LLC and dot Bingo Limited are among the first to jump on the opportunity to obtain a .bingo new generic Top-Level domain (gTLD) name.

American based Sand Cedar, LLC is from a company called Donuts. They plan to deliver a variety of names and to accomplish this they’ve applied for over 300 of the new domain names in hopes of securing approval for all of them.

dot Bingo Limited is associated with the Famous Four Media company with operations in London, New York and Gibraltar.

It’s still early days and we will not see a rush of domain changes just yet. One thing is for sure, players need not worry about losing their favorite online bingo sites. If anything, they will simply move to a new domain with no player repercussions.
