We have seen quite a few heart-warming stories lately about bingo players and staff helping out worthy charities, and here is another one to show us how generous bingo players can be.
This time we need to need to head over to sunny Burnt Oak (at least it was sunny the time I fell asleep on the Northern Line and ended up there). Here the people who work and play at the Mecca Bingo club on Broadway set themselves a very healthy target of £750 in their efforts to raise some much needed funds for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.
Did they meet this tough target? They only went and blooming well smashed it to smithereens, ending up just a tad short of £1,000 for their chosen good cause.
The final sum of £984 came about through a wide mixture of events such as cake sales (yum), party nights and sponsored body waxing (ouch).
Local fundraisers and bingo management are delighted with the superb results which the Mecca Bingo club staff and customers have managed to achieve.
The Marie Curie charity is one of the best known in the country and gives high quality care to terminally ill patients in a number of centres throughout the country, so every penny raised to help them is a wonderful help to people who are really in need.
Online bingo players looking for ways to help out with good causes will find events and promotions such as the Costa Bingo charity games a great way to do so. We will of course keep you up to date with any such news, as well as making sure you find out about lovely stories like this one from Mecca Bingo in Burnt Oak.
