While most of the gambling industry in the UK pays a 15% tax duty, land based bingo operators feel an unfair injustice with singling them out with a 20% tax duty.
The issue has come up again after the Government made an announcement to introduce VAT caravans. The Government claims they are being fair since mobile home, caravans and tents are subject to VAT.
The Prime Minister has adamantly expressed that the tax is indeed a fair one. VAT will cost the industry £16m when introduced with a measurable job loss.
The proposal was disclosed by the Chancellor in last month’s budget meeting.
