Gala Bingo caller, Wayne McFarlane, 26, has a voice that extends beyond calling numbers. For Wayne it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time when record producer Dave Turner saw a special talent in him.

Dave Turner a singer himself had a number one charity single in Barbados. He wrote the song for the soldiers who fought in Afghanistan and it quickly rose to the top of the charts.

Wayne was crooning in a karaoke bar in Wallsend and caught Dave’s eye along with another singer that night, Jessica Wood. The song “Everyone Wants a Piece of Me” was written by Wayne and the single recorded in Broadwater Studios in Gateshead as a duet with Jessica.

“I couldn’t believe it at first, when Dave approached me and said he wanted to sign me to his record label, I thought it was a joke.

“Things like this don’t happen to an ordinary bloke like me who works full-time in a bingo hall.

“I go to Last Orders pub in Wallsend every Thursday for karaoke, I love it, but I never thought it would lead to anything. This is a dream come true and I could get rocketed to stardom.

“Who knows where it will take me.”

Dave, 27, set up his record label JRT Management and Recordings in August, said: “I was in Last Orders when I heard this amazing voice. Wayne really made me sit up and listen. I approached him when he had finished his song and I said I could help him make a career of his singing voice.

“While I was talking to Wayne, Jessica stood up to sing and she was also fabulous. I couldn’t believe it, I had caught two fish in one night in the same basket.

“Wayne’s debut single is launched on November 24. I really think this guy will make it,” added Dave.
Wayne’s single “Everyone Wants a Piece of Me will be available through iTunes and Amazon.
