Bingo clubs across the UK have suffered closures and thousands of job losses.

According to a study called the “Fall and Rise of Bingo”, after a decline in land based club attendance the bingo industry has a “spring in its step” as a result of a Government tax boost.

Graham Soult, author of the study, claims that the move to cut tax on bingo hall profits from 20 to 10 percent has breathed new life into the industry.

Soult said, “It has given the future of the traditional bingo hall a mighty fillip.”

“Online bingo is going from strength to strength, and the cut in bingo duty has given the future of the traditional bingo hall a mighty fillup.”

Bingo boss Simon Collins says that responsibility now rests on the shoulders of the industry. “The operators need to invest in their offerings and halls as well as benefitting from the reduced tax”, he said.
