A recent report on mobile gaming discovered an increase in the number of players gambling using their mobile phone or device. The findings have been backed up by an announcement from BetFair, who have revealed they now have over 4 million registered users.

The group has also published news on their growth with particular reference to mobile gaming. They attribute recent growth to a 70% increase in the use of mobile phones and tablet pc's to place bets or play games.

The group believes that the recent increase in users and revenues is down to their avant-garde approach to technology. They were the first gambling brand to provide a dedicated mobile site suitable for smartphones such as the iPhone and devices like the iPad. Their dedicated apps now extend to the Apple centric iOS and Google Android operating system.

Ian Chuter was pleased with the groups progress, who are not about to rest on their laurels. He explained, “There is a huge amount to come from Betfair in the next few months and we believe that our customer base will not only continue to grow, but continue to benefit from the innovation that has always been Betfair’s driving force.”

The 2010 to 2011 profits were up 20% on previous years with a total turnover of 916 million. Mr Chuter continued, “Reaching this milestone is testament to the continuing appeal of our product, which in a short space of time has revolutionised an industry and turned on its head the expectations of sports bettors.
