A UK young man, Daniel William McNarry, crashed into a bingo hall and witnesses have reported that the cause was a racing.

The 19-year-old pleaded guilty in court to the charge of driving without due care and attention in the Apollo Bingo incident which occurred on September 11, 2012.

Prosecutor Lisa Hine, reported a witness statement which said a blue car – driven by McNarry – and a white car were racing as the traffic lights changed.

Hine said, “The witness said the cars started to rev their engines and set off at speed, before the cars went round a bend and the defendant’s car crashed into a bingo hall.

“Both cars were equally responsible for the accident. The driver of the white car has already been prosecuted.”

After his arrest, McNarry claims he was not speeding and was only driving at 30mph.

In defense of her client, Jane Tunn says that McNarry denies claims of racing.

Tunn said, “This must seem like the usual boy racers on the one way system.

“He doesn’t accept the full facts of the Crown’s case. Mr McNarry said his car was an old banger and the revving noise was just the engine idling along.

“He thinks it might be that he pulled away a bit quicker than the witness.

“He was pulling in to the left hand lane, from the right.

“He remembers looking in his rear view mirror and then becoming aware that the car had hit something.

“He thinks that he’s been looking in his mirror when he has clipped the kerb and that has caused him to crash.”

McNarry received five penalty points on his driving license and fined £240 along with an order to pay a £24 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
