In these tough economic times it is great to see a bit of good financial news come around, and even better when it concerns new jobs and new gaming facilities being in the spotlight.

Rank Group Gives Some Good News

The Rank Group is behind a lot of the country’s top bingo and casino centres and have just announced big plans for the West Midlands area. The overall amount they are going to pump into the region’s economy this year is going to be well over £11 million and the first part of their strategy was clear for all to see with the spectacular opening earlier this week of the redeveloped G-Casino in the site of the old Walsall Grosvenor Casino.

Next up on the Rank list of activities in the West Midlands is the Oldbury casino, followed by a makeover for the Kingstanding Mecca Bingo hall.

If we add in last year’s investments in the area, the combined two year total will be getting close to £15 million, with about 70 new jobs created in this time. The growing demand for games is cited as the reason for these new investments, with an 8% increase in turnover in the last year being put down to more customers spending more money at their establishments, with food and drink sales doing particularly well.

The amount of customers through the door was up by around 8%, with the average spend jumping by over 3%; £25.30 is now what the average client spends during their visit. As well as an improved turnover, the last 12 months also saw an improvement in pre tax profits from £48.5 million to over £55 million.
