Does Online Ghost Players Really Exist?

This may require Ghost Busters to step in and blow the lid off of ghost players. This isn’t about the eerie ghosts that some swear are real and lurk in homes turning water and appliances on and off or seeing shadowy silhouettes. This ghost hangs around online gambling sites.

We are all guilty of it, we see a player win one too many times during a bingo session or consistently wins night after night and the notion comes across our minds could this be a ghost player. It is easy to fall prey to that thinking when a player is on a bad streak of losing while another player is winning what it seems to be, all the time.

What exactly is a “ghost player”? It is a term used by the online bingo and casino community that suggests that any player who repeatedly wins is a plant set by the operator of the gaming portal. This player works for the online site or is associated with the site in an attempt to deceive their customers. Ultimately the winnings go right back to the house while convincing players that big wins, multiple wins are possible.

It is a legend that many online gamblers hold to be true. Tempers flare and comments escalate in chat rooms when a disgruntled player is on a losing streak. It is a strong accusation that operators are well aware of. The infamous ghost player has spread quickly among the gambling community as the eagle eye of players check scrolling winners, marquees and top winners listed on the homepages with a name that appears time and time again. To some it is proof enough that the ghost player lives at large.

But the burning question remains, is there really such a thing as a ghost player or is it a stroke of good luck. By all indications of the Ghost Buster’s apparatus there is no paranormal activity represented to prove such a claim. It’s an underhanded tactic that simply is not practiced, at least not by an accredited licensed site that has reputation to uphold.

So how are some players frequently winning? The answer is very simple; they are consistent players that play more often on the average. The odds are in their favor when they wager more and spend more time at a particular site. A player who plays 4 hours a day vs the player who plays one hour a day is going to have a higher percentage to win more frequently.

The ghost player is a myth that will live on as an urban legend. Now as far as that apparition floating around in your home, that is a whole other story.
