Gala Bingo in Wythenshawe has recently had a bingo player make a sit in protest in dispute over a £1,000 bingo prize. The dispute centres on the Gala bingo caller not hearing 63 year old Elaine Prendergast calling house in an afternoon bingo game at the Manchester bingo hall, and so the game continued and another winner was declared. So incensed was Mrs Prendergast that she refused to leave the Gala Bingo hall until she was paid out what she believed to be her winnings.
The beauty of playing online bingo is that there is never any worry about a bingo call not being heard as the numbers are marked automatically and online bingo winners declared instantly. Not that we are saying for one moment that you should avoid the traditional bingo halls, as incidents such as these are extremely rare but they are not a concern with online bingo at all.
Gala Bingo pride themselves on delivering the best they can in customer service, both to the high street bingo customer and to online bingo players alike, and without doubt this incident is being investigated. A Gala spokesperson was reported as saying "We fully investigated the matter and concluded that a miss-claim occurred. We informed the customer of our decision and let her know the complaints procedure if she wanted to take the matter further. The game continued until a valid claim was found."
This particular incident is all the more distressing as the lady concerned is a pensioner who is disabled due to arthritis.
