Pensioner from Morecambe records a win in bingo:

For this 74 year old pensioner from Morecambe, no other gift would be better to start the new year than her 20,000 pound bingo win on new year’s eve. Preferring to remain anonymous, the woman states that she has not mentioned this win to her family as yet as she wants to surprise them on receiving the cheque.

 

It was at the Gala Club of Marine Road, Morecambe that she had won the prize while playing the game, called ‘Afternoon Delight’. It was the completion of a full house in 42 numbers that brought her the prize. This was the lowest call of any of the 470 clubs of the nation. In addition to this prize, she managed to scoop the house prize of 40 pounds.

 

The woman is a widower and has two sons, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She has been playing bingo since 1991 at the Gala, six days in a week. She really couldn’t believe her luck when she had won the prize. Everyone in the club was clapping, but she couldn’t believe that she had won so much in prize money.

 

She still finds it difficult to get over the moment, and can’t decide what to do with the money. but she considers it a great New Year present for her. Perhaps she would use the money to decorate her living room and buy new carpets.

 

Prior to this, Morecambe Gala bingo has given away more than 225,000 pounds in UK bingo jackpots, according to records.
