Despite the European Union regulations about the free movement of goods and services between all the member nations of the European Union, the Dutch authorities are holding a tough stand on internet gambling. This has led to tension for online bingo operators and bingo halls with Dutch customers.
Though the online bingo games industry in Holland is moderate in size, reports say that the Holland authorities will be holding banks and credit card operators liable if they are found promoting Dutch people gambling on foreign internet sites. This ruling has come to light because of the new justice ministry regulations that were released with a list of the banned websites.
Holland is joining Sweden, Greece and France in becoming targets of the European Commission which are working on ensuring compliance with the EU requirements on trade. This is because of its current state run gambling monopolies, De Lotto and Holland Casino.
It is because of this monopoly these companies have in commercial gambling in Holland that this move is taking place by the Holland authorities. Dutch government has already allotted Holland Casino the exclusive rights in the internet gambling and online bingo sector.
