The online bingo site, Bingo.com has raised a lot of eyebrows with an article they have posted in their site. Now it is possible that they are risking their Maltese license with such content that seems could be portrayed as targeting children.

Bingo.com posted an article entitled Bingo at School! Let us quote an excerpt from the published article from Bingo.com:

“Bingo strengthens their memory, helps them focus, and allows them to learn how to work and cooperate together. If they create their own bingo cards they will be using their own creativity. Your kids will find that time passes by so fast when they play bingo that they will spend hours and hours studying without even realizing it and you will have more time to enjoy your own bingo game too!”.

Now that article clearly explains  the reasons children should/do play bingo. It even makes use of a professor in front of a blackboard illustrating what the article is talking about. While bingo analysts and insiders are saying that the article was written for the sole purpose of search engine optimization, it still comes quite close to violating some regulations based on the Malta Lottery and Gaming Authority’s laws where Bingo.com is licensed. The article could be portayed as encouraging minors to gamble. If you visit the website of Malta Lottery and Gaming Authority, it is clearly stated that the governing body, LGA ensures adequate protection for the minors as well as vulnerable persons.

They are certainly risking their license with this article they have published. In fact, according to their rivals (who also a Malta license), they must be crazy to publish such an article on their website. The competition goes on to say that this is the kind of thing that gets licensing authorities very upset (but competitors would say that).

However, there are two sides to every argument and bingo.com could argue that they never mentioned online bingo in their article or indeed gambling, as a teacher I certainly agree with the educational side assosicated with bingo when it is used in a non gamling way. This is how I read the article, although publishing it on their own website may have been unwise, we will keep you posted.
