Bingos Many Faces

The Bingo sites do anything but give the impression that they are intended mainly for the elderly.I am sure many older people enjoy the game but as you play you do not have images of pensioners sitting about a musky hall as they wait for numbers to be called. 

Actually the seniors I have known who play or played Bingo are quite a fun group of people to be around.  The younger set did not engage in the game when Bingo Nights were offered by the local churches because they didn’t want to hang around with their parents and grandparents.  They were too busy spreading their wings on dates or hanging out with friends.  They may have considered the game too slow for them but everybody knew the rules and how to play. 

On line gaming has made Bingo available to everybody from the grandmother taking a break from knitting to the college student taking time out from studying.  The internet has made it possible for people to play Bingo any hour of the day, any day of the week. 

People began to drift back to the game because it is an old standard.  The game has effectively provided churches with a means to raise funds for centuries.  While Bingo may have been associated with mostly pensioners as its fans, it is still like an old friend.  The gambling options on the internet are almost too many to count so the sight of an old buddy is attractive to a lot of people

The software available gives the builders of the Bingo sites the tools to let their customers enter a world of bright colours and flashing lights.  Enticing sounds and sights greet you as you make your way through the site and begin to play the games.  It has effectively dissolved the perception that Bingo is somewhat dull and boring. 

When you’re sitting at the computer watching as your card fills up as number after number is called it is hard to sit still.  I usually leave the television on for background noise and have often completely forgotten about the program.  I play around my favourite shows because I’ll lose track of the story’s progress once I start playing Bingo. I use to take pride in being able to do two things at once.  My studying was always done in front of the television .Believe it or not I got pretty good grades.

I often go the chat room after playing and usually the conversation drifts from the game itself to more personal matters.  One lady is a school teacher who finds the game stimulating and laughs that for once she doesn’t have to lead the classroom.  She and I talk about everything to the scrapes our kids into to the news of the day. 

As I began to talk with more and more people it became evident that this is an activity that has found its way into many lives.  Computers, once thought to be a tool solely used in business, have paved the way for a vast world of entertainment to enter the private home.  Sometimes I wonder what my Mother would have thought had she been able to sit down in the comfort of her den and type, point and click her way into a game.  The one drawback to her Bingo nights was the drive to the church hall.

“I really just want to sit down and read my book,” she’d tell me as she swept out the door, “but everyone would miss me.”

She went to the Bingo game for the same reason people go to the on line sites – to have a good time.
