Bingo Has Come Out Of The Hall

Written by: Nikola Zugic on 18/11/2007 19:58

Bingo has come out of the hall! The internet has introduced this two centuries old past time to the hip and cool generation. The chance to wile away some time and the chance to make some cash proves almost irresistible for the new millennium generation. Once known as the safe house of their grandmothers and fathers, the old game has made a roaring comeback. All sorts of gimmicks are being used to lure the prospective player to sites and halls.

For years past, the halls had a comforting sameness about them. For those familiar with the scene this was a great haven; a place away from the rest of the world, where friends could chat and smoke. The occasional call of ‘Bingo’ would turn heads, and all could rejoice in the celebration of the winner, and maybe even score a free drink!

Today’s Bingo Halls are a far cry from that. For the funky crowd all manner of entertainment and diversion are available. It’s the place to be seen. It’s a distant cry from spending time between shopping and going home of grannies. No more tiled floors and tepid tea. Today’s halls sparkle. There’s lots of chrome and glass. Lots of disposable income being chased by more and more entrepreneurs eager to help the public maximize their entertainment experience.

Bingo halls are big business. Financial advising companies take seriously returns of funds employed and net margins in analyzing the UK bingo hall market. 100 Bingo Halls are seriously analyzed as investments by a leading Business Performance Company.

So what came first? Was it the revival of the Bingo Hall or the online bingo phenomenon? As the Internet enabled super graphics and the ability to transfer cash safely on line the days of trotting off to the Bingo Hall with a handful of coppers were numbered. Wet weather, small crowds, lower payouts were never going to make it. Larger prize pools and the opportunity to ‘brighten up’ the player experience showed leading entrepreneurs that a whole new generation of players could be enticed. Many of the traditional games of past generations have now been revitalized. Look at poker! Who’d have ever thought 10 pin bowling would ever come back?  A whole revamp of these games images have taken place and it’s exciting. All generations can enjoy the thrill of waiting to see their numbers come up. And that’s what gets you in. It could be you! And wouldn’t you hate to see someone else get that prize! And the halls are fighting back. To add to the social sizzle ideas such as Team Bingo are offered. For those with a social conscience, Play Bingo for Charity, and of course in the real world where disputes can arise, Player Advocacy services exist.

Online, the game has taken a different path. The access to people’s time while doing other things on the net gives the chance to ‘make some money’ and have some enjoyment away from the daily grind. This time could be a work, while email checking, or just when there’s a spare minute or two. Here the experience can be very different. It’s you against the machine and unseen other. Sure you can chat on line, but you can’t see the white’s of their eyes! And then of course there are the prizes. Web designers are always seeking ways to keep you hooked to their site.

But for me the best part of online is not the website and the glitz. It’s not the sounds and amazing graphics! It all comes down to the fact that I don’t have to dress to go out and play. So if making money in your pj’s appeals then get into online Bingo. Maybe that’s the secret of online Bingo!
