Recently, a decision was made to refuse smoking shelters with a PA system. This system will allow bingo players to play outside and be able to smoke. As you recall, one of the reasons bingo halls are on the brink of closure is because of the smoking ban implemented by the UK government in bingo halls. This is one of the factors of the decrease of bingo players in bingo halls. That’s why bingo halls have thought of smoking shelters outside so that the smokers can still play their favorite game of bingo. The problem is, smoking shelters were not allowed.
Now, bingo hall bosses are determined to fight the shelter refusal. They are appealing against the refusal decision. Walsall Council has just refused the plans of Gala Bingo to implement a bingo shelter at their St. James Bridge club at the Park Lane in Wednesbury. However, Gala Bingo is hoping to overturn the council’s decision. They have just unveiled their plans of creating such outdoor area that will house game machines as well.
Gala Bingo’s great idea came after memberships decreased due to the waking ban. Thus, Gala Bingo has planned a shelter to accommodate their smoker bingo players. The reason of the shelter refusal however is because the materials proposed in Gala Bingo’s plans were too flimsy. At the same time, there is fear that the proposed bingo shelter will be interfering with the parking. Other bingo halls were successful in applying for their application for their bingo shelters. They happily received their permit for their smoking bingo shelters. Too bad for Gala Bingo, the location must have been a big factor because the council is afraid it will be interfering with the parking lot surrounding the bingo hall. Well, Gala Bingo has already made an appeal and they are hoping that it will be considered because they really need it in order to survive.
